BJORN Q. AASEROD

Founder and Executive Chairman

Mr. Aaserod has 40 years of experience within the international infrastructure and energy sectors. Since the early 1990’s he has focused on executing projects, structuring financings with a focus on project development and building companies. He founded MPS in 2017 after two years of design and concept development.

In 1994 he founded Cambridge Securities which specializes in project financing with clients including BP, Shell and Chevron. Through Cambridge he has also worked on structured finance products including collateralized bond obligations (CBO) and acted as advisor to major corporations and governments.

In addition, Mr. Aaserod has founded companies active in the oil and gas transportation sector such as Navigator Gas (NYSE: NVGS) and Independent Tankers (sold to Frontline in connection with its IPO).

SIMON FARRANT

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Farrant has more than 30 years’ experience in senior management and operational roles at Schlumberger Limited, the world’s leading energy services company. At Schlumberger, he worked in the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, Europe and the US, serving in roles of increasing responsibility in operations management, finance, R&D, M&A and business development. 

Among Mr. Farrant's leadership roles at Schlumberger were Executive Officer & VP Investor Relations, and VP North Sea GeoMarket.  He also managed Schlumberger’s $11 billion acquisition and subsequent integration of Smith International, the largest M&A transaction in the energy services industry at that time.

Mr. Farrant holds a B.Sc. in Geophysics from Newcastle University, a M. Eng. in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, and an MBA from Rice University. He is also a director of Rapid Oil, a private company registered in the UK, and currently serves as Advisor to the Schlumberger CFO.

BEN SWOMLEY

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Swomley has broad experience across the financial services and investment management industries. Most recently he was with Citadel Global Equities where he managed a factor-neutral, long/short portfolio of Oil Service & Equipment stocks. Prior to Citadel, he was a Vice President at Morgan Stanley where he was an Energy Equity Research Analyst supporting the firm’s top-ranked Oil Service & Equipment team.


Mr. Swomley began his career in Investment Banking with UBS and Bear Stearns, where he worked on various M&A, capital raise and restructuring transactions. He earned a BA in Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania and is a CFA® Charterholder.

HANS KRISTIANSEN

Chief Technical Officer

Mr. Kristiansen has spent 40+ years in the energy industry with a demonstrated track record of successful execution on major int’l projects, including 22 years in project positions at Statoil (20 years at the Project Manager or Project Director level). He held leading mgmt. roles on a variety of project types, including Shipping, LNG Terminal, FSRU, Refinery, Subsea Development, Offshore Platforms and FPSO Newbuild & Conversion.


Mr. Kristiansen has broad experience in all aspects of project management including organizing and launching major projects and overseas turnkey project management, construction and commissioning. He holds an Electrical Engineering degree from Chalmers University in Sweden.

RON ALTBACH

Chief Commercial Officer

Mr. Altbach's career spans over 40 years in media, financial industries and executive mgmt. He has been working with Mr. Aaserod at Cambridge Securities since 2014 and joined MPS at its founding in 2017, where he has played a leading role developing the firm’s project pipeline.


Previously, Mr. Altbach co-founded Regeneration Capital Group with a focus on advising middle market Chinese companies. Before that, he was Chairman of Cross Media Marketing, a data driven multi-platform direct marketing company, which he took public on the American Stock Exchange in 2000. From 1994-98, Mr. Altbach was Vice Chairman of PE firm Rosecliff Inc.

OLE J. OLSEN

Managing Director, Norway

Mr. Olsen has 30 years of experience in the energy industry successfully building large organizations. He founded Norwegian Petroleum Consultants (NPC) in 2001, a business which would eventually grow to 850 employees. In 2010, NPC merged with Engineering Partners and again in 2015 with Dovre Group (Nasdaq Helsinki symbol: DOV1V), where Mr. Olsen joined the Board of Directors and eventually became Chairman.


In 2018, Mr. Olsen co-founded Visual Engineering, a digital reality 3D content company. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Gothenburg Technical Institute in Sweden and an MBA from Nanyang Business School in Singapore.

JESSICA WIRTH STRINE

Board of Directors (nominee)

Ms. Strine is a Founder, Managing Partner and CEO of Sustainable Governance Partners, an independent practitioner-driven firm advising public companies on governance and ESG strategy.


Previously, Ms. Strine spent nearly 20 years in the investment management industry as a Research Analyst and Portfolio Manager at Wellington, Putnam and Blackrock, as well as serving as Senior Director, Investment Stewardship at Vanguard. While on the buyside she oversaw energy investing in all sectors, and across all developed and emerging markets. Ms. Strine graduated with a BA from Dartmouth College and earned her MBA from Wharton.

JOHN DOWD

Board of Directors (nominee)

Mr. Dowd has spent over three decades researching and investing in the Energy industry. For 14 years, he was with Fidelity serving as a Research Analyst and Portfolio Manager for several different Energy and Natural Resources oriented portfolios.


Prior to Fidelity, Mr. Dowd was a Senior Research Analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., covering the Oil Service & Equipment, as well as the Refining and Integrated Oil space. Previously, he was a Partner with Lawhill Capital Partners, an energy-focused investment management firm. Mr. Dowd began his career at Value Line as an Equity Analyst in 1990. He has provided expert testimony to the U.S. Senate twice and holds a BS in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
